The Continent Cup T20 will begin on 9th June in Kenya with the final set to take place on 23rd June. A total of 9 teams will take part in the tournament and the games will be played at Nairobi Gymkhana. The nine teams include Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Uganda.
The General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Mubashshir Usmani opened up about the initiative. He said that ILT20, which is sanctioned by ECB, is keen to make the sport famous across the world. He spoke about the passion for cricket in Africa and added they need encouragement.
“The International League T20 is committed to the growth of the sport not only in the UAE but across the world. There is a real passion for cricket in Africa and we feel that we need to provide them the encouragement and the backing that will help them emerge on the cricket scene.”
