He is thrilled to be a part of the Desert Vipers. Afridi told the media that, he is aware that there are many Pakistan cricket fans in the UAE. The 23-year-old star hopes they would support their side in the forthcoming ILT20.

After signing with Vipers last year, Azam Khan was destined to become the first Pakistani player in the ILT20. The PCB ultimately chose not to provide him the no-objection certificate to take part in the competition, nevertheless.
After players complained about the stringent requirements imposed by the former administration, led by Ramiz Raja, last year, the PCB, under the leadership of its current chairman Zaka Ashraf, has loosened its limits on players’ participation in several T20 competitions. Additionally, it is thought that the PCB administration under Najam Sethi, Ashraf’s predecessor, had discussions with the ILT20 on the availability of Pakistani players.
Tom Moody, the director of cricket for the Vipers, commented on their recent purchase. Shaheen is a player of the highest caliber who has recently contributed significantly to every team he has played for, not just Pakistan. He has crushed numerous top orders as an impact speed bowler, and he also possesses excellent leadership qualities that will be of immeasurable use to the Desert Vipers going forward.
In addition to Wanindu Hasaranga, Matheesha Pathirana, Tom Curran, and Sheldon Cottrell, Afridi will join a bowling attack that currently includes these players.
After placing second in the inaugural season, the Vipers kept several of their players. The list features captain Colin Munro and player Alex Hales, who concluded the tournament with the most runs scored.
